Brittany & Sheffield come to visit (1)

Yes, we've had a summer of visitors, and it's only the end of July! Unusually we're in the middle of a three week break with just the two of us at home, but roll on 11th August for our next invasion!

First up for a surprise weekend Valentine & Pierre-Yves who we met on holiday in Tunisia last year when young Simon was a five month twinkle in their parents' eyes.
But now look, first steps days after his first birthday!
Nadine, Simon & Alfie followed next: Maman & fils at the airport at the crack of dawn!
The old inflatable boat came in very useful as a safe play area
But the favourite place for our water baby was the pool, at home...
...or at the campsite with Papa...
...and even underwater!

It's always good to know that Mamie is there for a drying-off and a cuddle

Guess who's back...

...back again!

The draw of the blog is stronger than I am, so in a not-quite-so frequent form, it's back to business.

In June Tine had an appointment in La Roche sur Yon, our local administrative centre, and I decided to look around the main square (affectionately known as Place Nap, the reason for which will soon become apparent). There has been a long-term project to change the area which was mainly parking before.

And here we have it: larger than life mechanical creatures,
all manoeuvrable from panels with just a little bit of practice.

There's a bit of a clue here to the Place Nap nickname!

Why, of course it's Napoleon's Square!!

There were so many people enjoying the fabulous weather and interesting surroundings. Well done, La Roche, a town we normally skirt around (eh, 'Er from Brittany?)!
