Northumberland

We decided to spend a couple of days up in Hexham with golden oldie friend Les.

There's no us without drinks to hand, Les looking as well as ever!

Hexham is a beautiful town, some of the shops enjoying a Hallowe'en theme.

We accompanied Les on a dog walk for Bonnie.

Your faithful blogger...

...and Les & Bonnie.

Did I say it was autumn?

The river was pretty full...

...both sides of the bridge.

A short video to show the power of the water.

That evening Anna, George, Arthur & Eve came round and we introduced them to Skyjo. A great success, we left our game with them!

Next day we drove to Corbridge, not far away.

We spotted some of the stones from the original Roman bridge...

...and the 'modern' version...

...with information!

Back to Yorkshire

It's a bit of a mixed bag this time. Go on, you know you like them!

Just to show how Alfie is catching up with Mamie.

Down in Saltaire there's the United Reformed Church...

...and the weir by the converted mill complex.

Up on Baildon Moor look at this crop of mushrooms...

...and a beautiful sunset...

...to be followed by an eerie night sky, photo taken from our caravan.

Of course we had several excursions to the Peacock, our favourite curry house in Bingley.

And another 'of course' there are often beers involved: at the Old Glen in Baildon...

...or in Sheffield with Philippe...

...and another night joined by Jade, Nadine & Philippe.

Last day

We had a great week with lovely visits, mixed weather but wonderful food.

Goodbye Melinda apartments, Roda, it's time to get the shuttle to the airport.

However, once boarded on the plane at lunchtime the pilot taxied round the runway and returned to the terminal. 'There's a slight technical hitch!'

Back in the terminal we had a near 12-hour wait for a replacement plane to fly out from Manchester.

We just had to grin & bear it, of course.

Finally we boarded

What a relief!

Back at Leeds-Bradford Airport the taxi hadn't turned up. Noooo! The good news was that we had full compensation for the delay, more or less paying for our week away. I'd say that was a positive outcome from a long day.

Antipaxos

Back on the boat and along to Antipaxos.

Again, appearances can be deceptive, we bumped around between the two islands...

...but the approach was beautiful.

Look at this rock formation...

...just alongside where the boat moored up...

...and willing folk had a swim!

You might have spotted Tine in the video, later joined by Mo.

Time to head back to Corfu Town.

Approaching Roda on the return coach, a wonderful sunset.

Paxos

We treated ourselves to a day's 'cruise' to Paxos & Antipaxos.

It was a perfect day for our crossing to Paxos.

We even went inside a cave, the photo not showing how buffeted we were.

The power of the waves, eh?

We landed at Gaios...

...and had a lovely lunch with view of quiet streets.

Proof that we were in Greece.

Georgios Anemogiannis, a hero of the Greek war of independence...

...and Tine, a hero(ine) of modern times!

A quick selfie to finish.

Sidari

Next day we stayed fairly local and caught the bus to Sidari.

The coast here is very dramatic...

...with people making the most of the little inlets...

...some jumping in and swimming into the caves. We watched ðŸ˜‚!

Evidence of bad erosion here.

We weren't expecting to see banana trees.

Catch up with Helen & Mo, over a drink of course.
