Constructions

A belated Happy New Year to all, especially to my new-found followers (yes, that's you, Richard, Aggie and now Miranda: look forward to meeting two of you and seeing the third again before too long)!

We're only just into 2011 and workers seem to busy everywhere so I thought I'd bring you up-to-date with recent developments in La Tranche.

Firstly there's the land at the side of our house which was a total quagmire not so long ago but now has the foundations to house and garage.

Next, the new apartment development by l'Equipage. The foundations are in for the second wing now. I'm not sure what's going to happen to the original building however.

A short walk away is the Océan holiday apartment complex now with a very wide and solid wall in front. Will there still be access from the beach? We'll have to wait and see.

This is the one we've been waiting for - a 'vendu' (sold) sign on Le Rêve. It's been criminal to see this once splendid complex go to ruin. Let's hope there's a very rosy future for it.

Now look at the width of the new footpath on the coast side of the market square. The opposite footpath has been removed so there's still room for traffic but I can't help but think the one-way systems are going to be extended.

And finally an artist's impression of the new covered market hall which is being built between the Tourist Office and the Co-operative, also with access from the side of the PMU. They've started working but there's not much progress to show, hence a stolen scan instead.

Now, that's what you come here for, isn't it?!
