Delhi: Lotus Temple, Humayun's Tomb

Day two and we hired a car and driver for the day, visiting places suggested to us by our hostess at the hotel.

First stop, the beautiful Lotus Temple
No interior photos out of respect...
...but what a a calm, peaceful atmosphere inside and out.

Another beautiful spot was Humayun's Tomb, the resting place of the 16th century Mughal emperor.

The entrance to the grounds of Humayun's Tomb...
...which predates the Taj Mahal, and was obviously an influence.

The sarcophagus takes centre stage in the very empty building. The grave itself is unvisited, on a lower floor.

Don't forget to look up...
...and out!
We walked round the gardens,
watching the workers
and other visitors shading under the trees.
