Meschers-sur-Gironde

Hotel Cleggifornia is well and truly open for 2017 with three sets of visitors having passed through the doors, and expecting the 4th on Tuesday. All friends who we met in Bingley, underlining the happy years we spent there.

Meanhile back in the time machine to the end of March when we had a short break in the SW of the country. First stop, Meschers-sur-Girond, an unlikely recommendation from a young guy who came to test damp in our bathroom after a slow leak (all happily sorted now).

The angry sky set off the fishing platforms to a T.

The Gironde is so wide at this point that you forget it's a river estuary
Sadly we arrived the day before the annual opening of the town's main attraction...
...troglodyte homes in the cliffs...
...still very impressive from above!
Just round the bay, brighter weather and a busy fishing port...
...with colourful buildings, we thought for the fishermen, perhaps to store their equipment or sell their wares.
Yet more fishing platforms...

...it must be a good spot!
