There's a popular series of books in France dating from 1954 until the present, featuring Martine and her adventures. I had to start this post by paying homage to the fictional Martine but also to my very brave Martine.
In 1981 she had her right hip replaced, the surgeon at the time saying it should last about 15 years. 37 years later here she is again but with a more complicated operation and a much longer convalescence.
The day after the operation, Tine managing a smile despite not feeling at all well |
A few days later and she's perfecting her selfie skills to prove she's out of bed and in her chair! |
Meanwhile we were enjoying wonderfully hot weather. That's La Roche sur Yon beyond the hospital roof tops. |
Later that day, intrepid adventure time going down the lift to the hospital entrance |
Eight days after the operation she's back home... |
...and catching up with Big Dave at La Paillote Happy Hour. |
Next day at the Starfish, I couldn't find Tine but Spiderman was to hand! |
And look what June sent: a huge bag of wool. There's going to be some serious knitting & crochet work done during her long convalescence.Meanwhile Nurse Dave is coping well, if you were wondering! |
