Entre mer et marais (Between the sea and the marshes)

Using our new favourite walk app/site we drove up above Les Sables to Olonne sur Mer, parked up and set off on a fabulous walk with very varied views.

A Google Maps screen shot to show the beach, the forest and the semi-drained marshes

Our starting point was near to the Menhir de la Conche Verte....

...then through the forest to a huge, nearly deserted beach.

The Grande-Pointe bunker...

...now on the beach but originally on the dunes.

Some creative types had been there before us

A very weird tree trunk in the middle of the beach!

Onto the marshes now...

...an intricate system of passageways.

Don't worry, Tine didn't attempt to cross!

The marshes were at different levels with home-made locks holding back the water

We weren't sure if these were to trap rubbish or eels (at high-water, of course)

Never ignore a 'Beware of the bull' sign

Near the end of our walk now and a couple of branch-laden trees
