Mont de Marsan

We left the Basque Country behind, direction Figeac in the Lot. But first a sandwich stop at Mont de Marsan.

L’Église de la Madeleine

The town is known for its sculptures, some stranger than others. La Plongeuse (the diver) was bought by the town for a permanent display after its first showing in 2016.

This statue represents two Breton woman walking against the wind

More statues by the Donjon Lacataye, which now houses the Despiau-Wlérick museum…

…once a look-out post…

…and used as barracks.

Back to the car and another impressive sculpture: La Force, a larger reproduction of the original, representing ‘la course landaise’, a form of bullfighting without bloodshed.
