The coast near Amlwch

Martin is a part of GeoMôn, a local geological society and we were lucky to visit their visitors centre on a day off.

I took these two photos for Alfie who is totally fascinated by old rocks!

The centre is situated at Amlwch Port which once upon a time exported copper from Parys Mountain

Martin pointed out the harbour walls made of vertical slates…

…a clue to the Cornish workers who helped build it.

Probably hard for you to see but that’s the Isle of Man on the horizon…

…and the Welsh mountains enjoying rain further south.

The lighthouse at Point Lynas

We dropped down to the beach where porpoises and dolphins can be spotted

We only saw a few ducks!

We only managed to visit the NE of the island, meaning we’ll have to go back before too long
