Brazilian Carnival weekend

Well, how can I follow my two guest bloggers who have done such a magnificent job? Well, I'll try my best...
.
You might remember a couple of weeks ago I wrote about the fire dancing display to mark the opening of the summer season. The entertainments officer announced then that the council had organised activities for each weekend throughout the season, an impressive plan for a small town. Not everybody is a big fan of the new mayor, but he and his team do seem to be getting things moving.

So, a couple of weeks ago we had a Brazilian Carnival with three samba bands (including dancing girls) and a not-very-exciting float, parading through the town and eventually all joining together on the beach for a combined display. The music was loud and addictive and the crowds followed the bands, enjoying the hot sunshine but keeping an eye on some VERY threatening dark clouds on their way!
