Spring at last

Well it looked like it was never coming but at last the days are warming up and signs of spring are all around us.
  • Photo 1: cherry blossom with a background of daffodils. Let's hope the cherries are as prolific this year (and that we get a fair share with the birds)!
  • Photo 2: a new visitor to our garden this year. It's a goldfinch (merci Kate & Nicole - see comments!) and we've seen five together on one occasion, obviously enjoying the birdseed bought in Asda on our recent visit!
  • Photos 3 & 4: The beautiful forsythia tree at the front of chez nous.
  • Photo 5: the ever-diminishing log pile. We're going to have to order an extra stère (cubic metre) for next winter as we've nearly run out, showing what a long cold winter we've had.
  • Photo 6: Looking up the garden showing how hard we've worked to get the vegetable patch prepared. Fingers crossed for the artichokes this year (we only got two last year!) - we've also planted onions, potatoes, carrots, parsnips (thank you 'Er in Brittany), fèves (like butter beans) and radishes. The rest will wait until next month.
  • Photo 7: One of our beautiful tulips with the gardener in the background.

Dave the all wise birdman says it's a goldfinch - we have a group visit us too. Love to J, L & N (in alphabetical order, of course). ps - off to Cheshire for weekend.
