Whitby

As a birthday surprise Tine had arranged a couple of nights in Whitby with old friends Jim & Les. We stayed in an amazing bed & breakfast and made the most of our time, luckily with fairly good weather.

The old gang together on the beach at Sandsend
The main beach to the north of Whitby...
...looking back at the pier...
...with a class of young surfers...
...and brightly painted beach-huts.
The statue of Captain James Cook watches over the harbour with the abbey and church over the water
These two old codgers were doing the same...
...soon to be joined by Mrs Codger!

Old mates together...
...and 40 years earlier!
Meanwhile Les & Tine enjoy the bracing weather on the pier...
...and Tine has a bit of a read on the tiny balcony outside our room...
...before heading for a full English breakfast!

Loving reading the blog again, Dave.
Seems ages since you were surveying all the valley from your perch on the hillside. No leaves left on the trees now.
And look at those flares - same vintage as my purple loons!

Amazing to see the two of you 40 years on
no aquarobics in the north sea, then?

If we can do it chez vous, when in Rome......
