Nicole & Daniel come for the weekend

Nadine's visit went far too quickly and on her last night we went to Nico's where we were made very welcome as always, Caroline cooking us excellent steaks on the open fire. They were busy as usual - it's good to see them doing so well.

Next morning we got up early to take Nadine back to Nantes but this time we made a detour to visit old friends Nicole & Daniel who had been stopping with friends in the city. Nicole made us a lovely lunch in plenty of time for us to drive Nadine to the airport and her flight home.

We continued on to La Tranche and were later joined by N&D who came to see our French home for the first time. We had a great weekend with them but were sadly let down by the weather. It was dry on Sunday morning so we drove to the forest at Longeville and walked through to the beach by Le Rocher (photos 1 & 2), Nicole showing off her botanical knowledge!

After lunch we set off for La Rochelle in two cars (N&D would be driving on to Anglet later). The heavens opened and we were drenched walking round the unusually quiet port, visiting the Hôtel de Ville (photos 3 & 4) and stopping at a café for a warming cuppa! Next time they come we'll pray for better weather...
