Driving back from Les Sables the other day we passed this beautiful field of crops. Now I think it was wheat, but Mr Google shows that rye is very similar! No doubt someone will advise me...
Really it was the bright red poppies that had attracted me (at the moment they are everywhere) but the combination of the red petals, near-white crops and azure blue sky was impossibly beautiful as I'm sure you'll agree.
Back at home we have our own California poppies and regular scarlet poppies bringing a bright splash of colour to the front of our house, despite the poor soil.
